I debuted this series at The Other Art Fair in Brooklyn, June 2022: Watch Me Hustle!

This new series, entitled Mindscape, comprises ten abstract portraits depicting the interior of the subject’s mind. While traditional portraits focus on portraying an exterior likeness through representational realism, these paintings redirect the focus to the intangible atmosphere within. 

These paintings confuse and distort the facial features, instead drawing the eye to the abstracted forms that seem to almost morph before them. In opposition to John Berger's famous conjecture, "seeing is believing,"—a narrative that has dominated Western art for many decades—I implore the viewer to consider that seeing is not always believing, because what you see on the outside doesn't always resonate with what's happening on the inside.
