Painting Padma

Watch me navigate through two days of intense side effects from my lupus medications. Despite battling nausea, chest compression, shortness of breath, and severe backaches, I turn to painting as my sanctuary, becoming an avid observer of my own reactions to the medication.

As the waves of discomfort crash over me, I pick up my brush and immerse myself in the process, allowing the strange side effects to guide me through. I find solace in painting dark waters with floating lotuses, or Padma in Sanskrit, a symbolic "transformation" that reminds us amidst the chaos, there are pockets of peace waiting to be discovered.

By day two, as the intensity of the side effects begins to wane, my painting undergoes a remarkable transformation. The once somber hues give way to lighter tones, mirroring the gradual easing of physical discomfort.

I don't have any special message but a reminder that in the face of chronic illness and ridiculous side effects from medications, we still have the power to transform our pain into something meaningful, and find the strength to keep moving forward.
