Fractured Reflections Installation | Unknown Face 5 | Original Glass Painting | Wood Display Stand

I often call Unknown Face 5 the “Ugly Pretty” portrait from the Fractured Reflections Installation. Her face is smashed inward and distorted, almost as if she has changed shape just to survive. She is still beautiful, but not in an easy or polished way. The broken glass is held close to the face instead of being discarded, which for me became a kind of protection that also starts to hide who she is. The piece is really about the strange way survival can protect us and change us at the same time.
